Sir John Courtenay

(c. 1435 – 4 May 1471)

Time Jump Histories offers a fascinating glimpse into Sir John Courtenay's life, a prominent Lancastrian noble born around 1435, who was the third son of Thomas Courtenay, 13th Earl of Devon, and Margaret Beaufort. During the tumultuous Wars of the Roses, he was styled Earl of Devon by Lancastrians in exile after his brother, the 14th Earl, was executed in 1461. Sir John’s life was marked by his loyalty to the Lancastrian cause, and he played a notable role in the conflicts and political upheavals of 15th-century England until his death on May 4, 1471.

For a living history display focused on an English Longbowman from 1415 to 1485, time jump histories would offer a comprehensive immersion into the life and times of this iconic warrior. Visitors could experience the evolution of archery technology and tactics from the Hundred Years' War through the Wars of the Roses, witnessing the construction and use of the powerful longbow firsthand. A full living history area with a single soldier's tent set for an archer on campaign  for meet and greet experiences. 

 An archery demonstration arena to showcase the English medieval longbow.

The Dugout
