In this workshop, you'll explore the ship's journey from construction to catastrophe, uncovering the stories of its passengers, crew, and the lessons learned from this unforgettable event.
What to expect in this workshop.
- The unsinkable ship. - Discover how the Titanic was built, the methods, and what made her unsinkable.
- The Iceberg - Where did the iceberg come from, and how was it formed?
- The crew - Meet the crew members: members of the Titanic from Captain Smith, Lieutenant Murdoch, to Frederick Fleet, the watchman.
- Boarding the Titanic, -Become passengers on board the Titanic from first, second and third class to see how each other lived on board the ship.
- Setting sail - Plot the journey of the Titanic on her maiden voyage as she set sail from Southampton.
- The last meal - Read through the menus of the last meal on April 14, 1912, and see what people had to eat before the disaster unfolded.
- Iceberg dead ahead! - Recreate the moments just before impact, and could the crew have saved the Titanic?
- How long have I got? - Recreate the moments from the ship and when they realised the “unsinkable” ship was sinkable, and the procedures to abandon ship, and what happens when lowering the lifeboats.
